Although most of us know what we should be doing we sometimes need to be reminded!
-1 in 30 women in Canada will die from breast cancer
-1 in 9 Canadian women is expected to develop breast cancer during her lifetime
-1 in 4 cancers diagnosed in women in Canada are breast cancer
Breast awareness is an important part of our overall health and well being and starts with routine breast self-examination.
All women should be “breast aware” and report any changes or discomfort in their breasts to their physician or healthcare provider. Rapid diagnosis can improve survival rates. Most importantly, it saves lives.
Remember there are other simple ways to reduce your risk to breast cancer:
-eat well, be active, drink less alcohol, be a a healthier weight, quit smoking, reduce chemical risk at home and work.
